Privacy Policy

            In short: Decryptik encrypts your messages entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit your messages or passwords. Your privacy is our core design principle.
        

1. What Decryptik Does

Decryptik is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that encrypts and decrypts text messages and images using AES-256 CBC encryption. All cryptographic operations happen locally on your device using the Web Crypto API built into your browser.

1b. Image Encryption - Temporary Storage

When you encrypt an image, it is encrypted on your device before being uploaded. The encrypted file is temporarily stored on Firebase Storage to allow the recipient to download it. Important:

The image is encrypted locally — the server only receives unreadable data
Your password is never transmitted
The file is automatically deleted after the first download or within 24 hours
Nobody (including us) can decrypt the image without the password

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Device Identifier

We generate an anonymous device fingerprint (a hash of generic browser properties like screen size, language, and timezone) to manage your license. This ID:

Cannot identify you personally
Is stored locally on your device and in our database
Is used solely for license verification

2.2 Email Address

If you sign in with Google, we store your email address to associate it with your license. We use it exclusively for:

License management
Payment receipts (if you purchase Premium)

We never send marketing emails or share your email with third parties.

2.3 Basic Device Info

When a license is created, we store the platform type and a truncated user agent string (e.g., "Windows", "Android") for support purposes only.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

            Your messages — encrypted on your device. For particularly long messages, already encrypted data may be temporarily stored on our servers to enable sharing, then automatically deleted. No one, not even us, can read them without the password.
Your passwords — never transmitted anywhere
Your contacts or phone number
Your location
Browsing history or app usage analytics
Cookies for tracking or advertising

        

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase for authentication (Google Sign-In) and database (Firestore) to manage licenses. Firebase's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

4.2 Stripe

Premium payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details — Stripe handles all payment data securely. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy

5. Data Storage and Security

License data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (EU region: europe-west1)
All communications use HTTPS encryption
Firestore access rules restrict all write operations to server-side Cloud Functions only
No client can directly modify license or payment data

6. Data Retention

License records are kept as long as your account is active
Payment records are retained for legal/accounting obligations
You can request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8)

7. Children's Privacy

Decryptik is not directed at children under 13. By using this app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If you are between 13 and 16, you should have parental consent to use this app.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:

Access your data — request a copy of what we store
Delete your data — request complete removal of your license and associated information
Portability — receive your data in a standard format

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
